I am an illustrator and artist based out of Colorado.
For me, creating art is not a spectacular production of spattering paint and wild temper. It is compulsive, anxious, a bit masochistic. It is therapeutic and satisfying.
My formal background is in ecology and evolutionary biology, and I see myself just as much a naturalist as I do an artist. Nature is what rejuvenates and inspires almost everything I do. Often, I find myself surrounded by such natural beauty that I become overwhelmed with curiosity. During these times, I imagine myself in a white room, looking through a tiny prick in the wall, its opposite side leading into a scenic unknown. These experiences and views are my beautiful secret, and I think my drawings are my way of coping with that clandestine landscape. A glimpse into these moments I share with myself.
I revere the precise, the tense, the uncomfortable, the botanical, the natural, and the grotesque.
